Britto Arts Trust

Britto Arts Trust is an artists' led non-profit organisation established in 2002 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Britto is a part of world-wide network of  Triangle Arts Trust. 

Within Bangladesh, opportunities for experimentation and innovation are rather limited. We do not have enough information of international contemporary art practice. While our Government Academy is doing its best to provide a forum for the arts it is limited by its resources and philosophy and is unable to cater to the more experimental demands of younger artists.

Furthermore, while there are several workshops and exhibitions which have been organized in previous years within Bangladesh, contemporary global reflection and critical discourse are not necessarily reflected in these programs.

Britto is committed towards promoting exchange and dialogue between artistic communities internationally and within the region. 

Our objectives:

To encourage experiments in artistic possibilities by providing a conducive environment to stimulate artistic exploration.

To widen and strengthen vital new links and network with artistic communities in Africa, the Asia Pacific Rim, Euro- America and especially our neighboring countries; we are committed towards developing a south Asian network for the arts.

To foster a climate of debate within the public realm about diverse art practices stemming from artists belonging to varied cultural back grounds.

To provide documentation for educational and international outreach programs producing quality catalogue, video documentation and other exhaustive material.
